The rescue operation after the dam collapse in Laos in 2018

Eighty - eight members of the Blue Sky Rescue Team from China, Thailand and Malaysia participated in the rescue.

In July 2018, the auxiliary dam of the Xe Pian Xe Namnoy Hydropower Station in Laos burst. Floodwaters submerged multiple villages in Attapeu Province, affecting approximately 13,000 people and causing significant casualties. The Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) responded promptly to this disaster, dispatching 88 team members to the disaster - stricken area, while 144 team members provided remote support.

During the 11 - day rescue mission, the Blue Sky Rescue Team carried out search and rescue operations within a 30 - kilometer radius in Attapeu Province. They successfully rescued 38 people and provided medical assistance to 263 victims. Despite the great challenges posed by the muddy conditions at the scene and the complex environment after the floodwaters receded, the Blue Sky Rescue Team persevered and completed the mission. The team members also assisted with disinfection work and transported emergency relief supplies.

This mission demonstrated the professionalism and dedication of the Blue Sky Rescue in international disaster relief, fully embodying the operational concept of "doing everything possible to save lives in the face of any crisis."
