In 2020, a sudden epidemic swept across the globe, posing unprecedented challenges to human society.
Since January 20, 2020, the epidemic in Wuhan has spread rapidly. On January 23, Wuhan announced the implementation of lockdown measures to contain the spread of the epidemic.
Based on years of rescue experience, Yuan Shan, the chief commander of the Blue Sky Rescue Team, acutely analyzed the severity of this epidemic and the shortage of daily necessities among the public caused by the sudden lockdown. He made the following arrangements: the local rescue teams in Wuhan should respond promptly to assist the government in handling the follow - up work of the lockdown; team members should be dispatched from nearby areas to support Wuhan; efforts should be made to mobilize resources from all parties to support Wuhan; and teams in various regions should be well - prepared to jointly address the situation.
A battle without gunpowder smoke began...
Starting from January 24th, Blue Sky Rescue teams from various places began to enter Wuhan one after another. In just two days, the first batch of 170 team members were all in place. The team members coordinated and obtained a 7,300 - square - meter warehouse in Huangchengliewan, Huangpi District, Wuhan. They established the "Joint Emergency Warehouse for Donated Materials for Epidemic Prevention and Control by the China Charity Federation and the Hubei Charity Federation". The joint emergency warehouse for donated materials for epidemic prevention and control was donated and built by the Mengniu Group, jointly managed by the China Charity Federation and the Hubei Charity Federation, and the Blue Sky Rescue Team was entrusted with the specific operation, maintenance, transportation, and distribution of the warehouse.
Over the course of two months, a total of 518 volunteers from more than 90 Blue Sky Rescue teams from 14 provinces, municipalities, and regions took turns working at the emergency warehouse. Yuan Shan commanded the operations on - site throughout the process. The team members actively engaged in volunteer work at the emergency warehouse. Overcoming difficulties and shouting the slogan "We, the Blue Sky Rescue, will not withdraw until the epidemic is defeated", they fought day and night on the front line of epidemic prevention and control. With their hands and sweat, they opened up a "lifeline" for material transfer, transporting and distributing over 20 million items of supplies from more than 40 countries and regions to over 3,000 hospitals and institutions across the province. They ensured the rapid completion of the acceptance, warehousing, transportation, and distribution of donated epidemic - prevention materials, providing strong support and making outstanding contributions to the victory over the epidemic.
With the development of the epidemic, at the end of January, strict prevention and control measures were also implemented nationwide. These measures included locking down areas severely hit by the epidemic and strengthening the control of human mobility. Blue Sky Rescue teams across the country emerged as pioneers and main forces in the fight against the epidemic. They actively coordinated with local epidemic prevention and control headquarters in aspects such as information screening, epidemic prevention and control, material transportation, science popularization and publicity, and epidemic - prevention disinfection, taking the lead and becoming an important force in the battle against the epidemic.
