On August 2, 2015, most parts of Myanmar were hit by continuous heavy rain. The resulting floods and mudslides had killed at least 27 people and affected more than 150,000 residents.
The Blue Sky Rescue Team (BSR) was the first international rescue team to reach the scene. A total of 156 team members were dispatched to participate in the rescue operation. The work focus of the Blue Sky Rescue Team was on evacuating people, searching for missing persons, and providing medical treatment. The team went deep into more than 200 villages, provided assistance to over 56,000 people, and treated 1,084 patients. At the same time, the Blue Sky Rescue Team carried out epidemic prevention and disinfection work in an area of 41.3 square kilometers.
With the strong support of then - President Thein Sein of Myanmar, the rapid response and coordinated actions of the Blue Sky Rescue Team played a crucial role in this crisis, making significant contributions to the rescue work in the disaster - stricken areas.
